Cornbread waffles are a fun spin on a traditional pan of cornbread!
This recipe is super easy and quick to make some cornbread to go with your favorite soup, a big ole pot of beans, or to top with your favorite chili and all of the fixin’s.
Ingredients
- 1-3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1-1/4 cups yellow cornmeal
- 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 2 cups milk
- 2 large eggs
- 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
Instructions
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cornmeal, sugar, salt, and baking powder.
- In a large measuring cup, add the milk and whisk in the eggs and oil.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until everything is fully incorporated and smooth.
- Heat and spray a waffle iron with non-stick cooking spray. Using a measuring cup, scoop the batter into the waffle iron.
- Cook until the waffles are finished, according to your waffle iron’s settings.
- To serve, place a cornbread waffle onto a plate and scoop some chili on the top center. Top chili with your favorite toppings. Cornbread waffles can also be served with any soup or dish that you would normally serve with cornbread.

In a large bowl, combine some flour, cornmeal, sugar, salt, and baking powder. Whisk together.
In a large measuring cup, add in some whole milk and then whisk in a couple eggs and some vegetable oil.
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients .
Stir until everything is fully incorporated and smooth.
Heat up a waffle iron and spray with non-stick cooking spray. Using a measuring cup, scoop the batter into the waffle iron.
Cook until the waffles are finished, according to your waffle iron.
Serve some chili with all of the fixin’s over a cornbread waffle or eat with some soup.
